  • Claustrophobia Management: Individuals with severe claustrophobia may require sedation or an open MRI machine. Discuss concerns with your physician prior to the scan.
  • Pregnancy Considerations: MRI is generally avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy unless absolutely essential, and gadolinium contrast is typically not used during pregnancy.
  • Kidney Function for Contrast: If a gadolinium-based contrast agent is required, a recent assessment of kidney function (eGFR) is necessary, especially for patients with renal impairment, due to the risk of nephrogenic systemic fibrosis.
